Happy Holidays

Singer Castle on Dark Island, Thousands Islands

Sunset at Johnstown, Ontario

Prescott, Ontario

Sandra Lawn Harbour, Prescott, Ontario

Our view at Iroquois Marina

Holly says: We left Clayton on July 1 (Canada Day), going up the Saint Lawrence River, headed for Ogdensburg, NY; on the left of the river is Ontario, and on the right is NY.

We arrived in Ogdensburg, but alas--no room at the inn, once again!! So, we had to cross the St. Lawrence to Canada. Our first stop was at Johnstown, Ontario, at the St. Lawrence Marina. John checked us in with customs via telephone. Facilities were poor, and bugs were in abundance. They did have a restaurant, though. We waited half an hour for a menu and another 40 minutes to be served but, being foreigners, we didn't complain. The sunset was the best part of that place!!

On Saturday, 7/3, we backtracked to Prescott, Ontario, where the marina at Sandra Lawn Harbour is much nicer. This is where we spent the 4th of July. Prescott is a small town, where the restaurants seem to do double duty--the Chinese restaurant has Canadian food on the menu, and the Irish Pub serves Mexican cuisine! The town does have several vacant storefronts, but not as bad as we saw in some parts of NY.

This morning we left Sandra Lawn and headed for the Iroquois Marina, in Iroquois, Ontario. We're in a nice, quiet spot and will probably be here until Wednesday. We just realized that we should have made arrangements for international calls on our cell phones, but didn't. So, we won't be making many phone calls.

John says: Talk to you all again when I return to America! :-)

  1. HEY,
The pics are beautiful! (Holly, the sunset one at Johnstown looks like the best so far...) I also like the one with your boat at the dock.. Didn't know you had rear canvas.. That can be handy during weather events (you seem to have had a few)
Are you two tired yet?? I know it takes alot of focus and concentration when out in the water, besides the sight seeing during and after.
